Youth Worker

We welcomed our new youth worker Paul Sparrey to our church just over six weeks ago. Now that he has settled in, we asked him a few quick fire questions to get to know him a little better and to let you know what he likes. Here is a chance to find out what Paul likes, how a joke is made funny by the way it is told, and why being a bird would be amazing.

Interests/hobbies: Enjoy DIY, playing guitar, listening to music, cooking (although that doesn’t happen too often)

Favourite food: Love a curry (although that doesn’t happen too often), love pizza

Favourite film: Lord of the Rings trilogy as well as the Star Wars saga

Favourite song: One of my favs is ‘Man in the Mirror’ by Michael Jackson

Favourite bible passage: ‘But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.’ Romans 5:8

Favourite joke: There are two sausages frying in a pan. Sausage 1 says to Sausage 2, “Cor, it’s hot in here isn’t it?!”. Sausage 2 says, “Crikey, a talking sausage!” – it’s the way I tell them.

Earliest church memory: As a child at Sunday School fiddling with my Action Man as someone was teaching from the front. Its head popped off and rolled underneath the chairs all the way to the front of the room – bit embarrassing.

You're at karaoke, what song would you sing? ‘Tie me Kangaroo down sport’ by Rolf Harris

If you were stuck in a lift with a celebrity who would it be? Jamie Oliver

If you could ask God one question what would it be? What’s the point of a wasp?

If you could be any animal, what would it be? A bird – they have the best of both worlds – flying (the views must be amazing) and walking around.

Hopefully this gives you a little insight into what Paul likes to do in his spare time, and if you have any more questions to ask him we're sure hear he would love to hear them.
