Holiday at Home 2011

 Hol at home

HOLIDAY AT HOME DAY ONE

This poem is dedicated to all those who have helped by driving, cooking and serving throughout the week.

In we come with our zimmers and sticks,

We may look ancient but we're full of tricks.

We take our places in seats made ready;

Hol at homeSome of us firm; some not so steady.

We greet our friends with great eclat,

Eagerly chatting of this and that.

Along with warm drinks we're given a quiz all about sweets,

So we scratch our heads as we try to recall

Ones we bought for a penny when we were small.

(Watch out girls - there's a young man with a camera lurking about.)

Hol at homeNow Bryan and Gail set out a large mat. What's that?

Oh! Snakes and ladders with a dice as big as a table tennis ball!

Our table doesn't win at all!

As they roll up the mat our eyes turn around

To the sound of Roger's saxophone.

We sing along to Chattanooga Choo Choo and our feet start tapping

Hol at homeAnd Barry's little dog starts dancing

As the sax blares out old tunes like 'In the mood'

After that FOOD!

As lunch arrives there are 'oohs' and 'aarhs' of great delight

At the wonderful sight -- of food prepared by somebody else.

When quite replete and back on our feet

Hol at homeWe wander out into the hall

Where the flower shop lady has set up a stall

And teaches us how to make a wonderful floral decoration.

The ladies from Oakdale are grinning with glee

For they are to take it home, you see.

Now iot's time to say 'goodbye'

'See you Wednesday' we happily say,

And homeward make our way

Hol at homeAt the end of a truly wonderful day!
